This rose is also shade tolerant. I have mine in a pot under the outer branches of a tree - gets only 2-3 hours of sun per day. Very disease resistant - no blackspot.

You won't be sorry if you get Spartan. Beautiful blooms for cut flowers and they smell wonderful, this is probably the most fragrant floribunda I know. This is a very healthy and vigorous rose.

Yes, I think this is one I need to get. Hardwood Roses has it so I will ask Connie to propagate it for me.

Does anyone know if this rose tolerates some shade? Also - how big are the blooms and how large does the bush get? Thanks.

Yes this rose does tolerate some shade. I have it in part sun and it blooms non-stop for me and the blooms do not "burn" either. I think the deep dark reds do better when they are not in the sun all day.

Actually I planted this rose in a pot in part-shade (about 2-3 hrs sun a day) and it is blooming non-stop. Must be because it is a child of Iceberg.

My Black Ice is in a container as well. How big has your gotten? I just picked mine up last fall as an own root rose and it is now about 2ft tall.

My Black Ice is about 3 ft. tall now - it is two years old. It is also own-root. No disease problems. I plan on propagating more of this rose. It's my daughter's favorite - the dark red blooms are gorgeous.

Thanks for the info. Mine is also very clean which is great as I have stopped spraying. If your daughter really likes the deep red roses, you may want to look at another Floribunda named Malicorne. Ashdown sold it until they closed but check Rogue Valley to see if maybe they have it as they bought the Ashdown inventory.

Very dark red blooms. I have mine in part shade and the blooms so far do "burn" as so many dark red roses do. It has been blooming nonstop for me.

Molly is a great shade tolerant mini. She grows in part sun in a container and blooms non-stop.
