This is simply a postscript to my previous comment. These plants are amazing, yes, but the stems are weak. A moderate rain, moderate spraying with hose, or brushing past the bush while walking results in the entire flower head falling off its stem. But otherwise everything I said still stands!

My solution for weak stems is banana peels (not the whole banana!). Grind them up in the blender and pour them around the base of the plant. I use two peels for a small rose, and up to six peels for a large bush; I apply them in spring and after the first bloom. You can freeze the peels until you need them. Try banana peels -- I think you will see a huge difference.

We purchased a container rose marked "Tropicana" from the local nursery; however, its blooms are white with a strong dark pink-to-red edge, not the orangey color that all my books and websites show is appropriate for Tropicana. The nursery insists it is Tropicana. Is it possible that this rose could come out white with dark pink edges? Or are the nursery people really confused? (It looks like the helpmefind.com pictures of Donna Darlin'.)
Thank you.

Wow, I checked out helpmefind.com pictures of Donna Darlin' and it really doesn't look like the Tropicana rose I have.
If the nursery does not grow it's own roses, it's possible that the grower has mixed up the tags and was shipped with the incorrect information.
If the nursery does do it's own raising, it's possible that the tag was replaced incorrectly by a customer or employee.
In either case, if the color is a problem with your garden, I'd take pictures of your bush to bring (along with some reference material) showing him how different they look.
Good luck and I hope things work out for you!

Our garden was started in February of 2004; as a result, many of our bushes are not yet showing flowers. We hope to cover the upward slope in our backyard with roses over the next year! Starting in 2005 we will be happy to welcome visitors.

This is an awesome rose. I mail-ordered four plants in February and planted them as soon as they arrived. Well, these plants are amazing! They have not opened to full blooms yet (as many of my other roses have), but each of these bushes is about 4' high already and each one has 20+ buds on it! I plan to propagate more of these and fill my garden with these sturdy, gigantic bushes.
