Each gardener to his or her own. I found Lilac Rose a disappointment because of the closeness of the buds in each cluster. That closeness caused flowers to be crowded together and not able to expand. The flowers did have lovely color and shape--I could wish DA had done more with the soft lilac-pink color--but unless I wanted to disbud every other bud, the blooms would not open. You might try contacting Friends of Vintage Roses.

Thank you so much for your information, I appreciate it. It's important to know both praises and faults of a rose. I will contact Friends of Vintage Roses. Did you grow it in a cold or temperate climate? How did you find the fragrance, disease resistance any other info? Appreciate your answers.

I grew Lilac Rose in CA central valley, zone 9, hot and dry. BS was never a problem--too hot. There may have been a touch of mildew in early spring. The plant grew into a mounding shrub, about 3-4' by about 5' wide. It would doubtless grow much bigger with more water. It might look very nice indeed with judicious disbudding, to allow the remaining blooms to expand. The color is superb, even under the hot sun which tends to bleach other roses such as Barbara Austin and Lady Emma Hamilton into unattractiveness.

This rose is a Super performer in high heat and humidity. It blooms frequently has a nice scent and above all healthy despite a little blackspot at times; but nothing crazy.
