Brown to the ground, first winter, zone 5b. Might still come back, but April 19th it's fully brown. Fingers crossed.

My Fragrant Cloud in Chicagoland, Zone 5B, is one of my hardier varieties. First planted in 2021. My experience is that if a rose makes it through that first winter it will keep on going. I have not had any problems with my 2 bushes of Fragrant Cloud.

Thank you, that's good to know. Mine had a rough first year- so that may have played a role. It was a late clearance bare root. I may try another one and see if it has better luck with an earlier start.

I'm in zone 5 and was thinking of trying some of these - though I don't see zone ratings for them. I like the looks of Laus Deo, Powder Keg, Marshmallow Bubblegum, Swizzle and Dottie. Are any of those more likely to be winter hardy than the others?

Brown to the ground for me in zone 5b. Not really a surprise as it's rated for zone 7- but I enjoyed it for the season and bought on bare root clearance at Home Depot. I'll update if it actually grows again- but as of April 19 it looks pretty gone.
