I'm just a gardener in Ft.Lauderdale Fla. That wants to get some roses to grow in my yard. Preferably fragrant ones, I am looking for the 'Old Bush' type roses I guess. Or Old Climber' types, with the small pink fluffy blooms, that need no, or next to no pesticides/fungicides,to grow. That grow on their own roots, and can live in south Fla. I am just trying to find some 'old roses'. I have been a gardener my entire life, and now in my late 40's, I am so tired of tropical plants, I finally found a 'big' iris to grow in south Fla. after years of looking! I missed my big bearded iris from the Northeast. I have tried to grow hybrid tea roses year after year, and spend a fortune on sprays and chemicals and get a few blooms and then they die. I found this site, and now I am begging for cuttings of old roses,or to find out where I can buy plants, I was told of a 'Caldwell Pink','Pink Firecracker', those kind of fluffy pink roses. I dont even know if they are fragrant, but I want to try them, and others, I would LOVE a huge rose, a huge fragrant rose, if one exists? does one? At this point I have little to nothing to trade for cuttings, but can anyone help?
