We are in Northern Michigan -- when do we prune back our knock out roses? We get lots of snow -- so we wiuld like to do it now (october) if possible ) and how far back do we prune them?

Roses store food for next year's growth in their canes. I would tie them up, cover them if they are not the hardy type and wait until the end of April to prune.
