5/1/2025 May Day! Blessed Beltane. My favorite time of year. Two more bloomers this morning. Easy on the Eyes gave me its first bloom of the season along with Fire Opal. Yellow Submarine will likely open over the course of the day.

As of today, I have or have had blooms on Easy Does It, Flamenco Rosita, Champagne Wishes, Hermosa, and True Spirit.
Easy Does it is gorgeous. Flamenco Rosita looks good. The bloom on Champagne Wishes was deformed and discolored probably as a result of the weather. It didn’t have any fragrance. Hermosa has had one bud open that I quickly removed because it did not look good at all. I plan on removing Hermosa this spring and replacing it with one of the roses I have in pots, but I wanted to wait until Hermosa bloomed, but may re-think that if the roses don’t start looking better.
What ever the issue was that was causing new growth to die back on my roses seems to have resolved and roses are now setting buds. Moonlight Romantic is looking poorly after being transplanted. If it does not recover, I will replace it next spring with another that is grafted on multiflora. The french roses seem to struggle here own root unlike the Kordes roses.
