fair-pol from Ralph Moore is 'Fairy Moss' X polyantha nana. Believed to be tetraploid. Habit of a polyantha nana.

Tetraploid? Seems unlikely.

It's listed as diploid in the paper 'UNDERSTANDING AND MANIPULATING POLYPLOIDY IN GARDEN ROSES'

Mr. Moore called the seed parent "R. Polyantha nana" however it was raised from seed purchased as Fairy Rose seed. Probably much like many of the found "polys" throughout the country.

Fair Molly is a sure bet to return here in zone 4/5 Alaska. It doesn't need any attention but gets it when it starts blooming. It survived a harsh winter when other zone 3 roses died. I'm glad to hear it handles heat well too.

Thanks for the hardiness information. Is Fair Molly hardy without winter protection?

The only protection has been snow. We usually have enough of that self removing mulch. The hard year that I lost so many roses though there was minimal snow cover.
