Bred by Gijsbert De Ruiter (Netherlands, 1977).
Introduced in Netherlands by De Ruiter's Nieuwe Rozen B.V. in 1981 as 'Madelon'.
Introduced in United Kingdom by Fryer's Roses/Fryer's Nurseries Ltd. in 1981 as 'Madelon'.

Class:

Florists Rose, Hybrid Tea.

Bloom:

Orange or orange-red. Mild, tea fragrance. 20 to 30 petals. Average diameter 4". Large, very double, high-centered bloom form. Blooms in flushes throughout the season.

Habit:

Upright, well-branched. Large, glossy, medium green, leathery foliage. 3 to 5 leaflets.

Growing:

USDA zone 6b and warmer. Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you'll probably find you'll have to prune a little more than that.

Parentage: Varlon x MEIgerion... The crossing was made during July 1977, the sowing during March 1978, and the first flower appeared during July 1978...
