I call this my "Little Prince" rose. Definitely a "she"! First one red leaf after the other - carefully unfolding - slowly turning a beautiful dark green. She takes her time as a bud - grooming herself to perfection before "going public" - The first year - the plant had only one cane and she bloomed with one rose. (summer 2010) The bud took ages before slowly and tantalizingly opening - kept us watching and hoping every day. And she was beautiful!.
2011 - bloomed (one at a time.... so each could be admired - she remains vain) throughout the summer and didn't succumb to the BS of her neighbors.
2012 - Has come through (two strong canes) a heavy late frost and promises to remain healthy. Can't really say "she blooms her head off" but she bloomed more often this year... so I guess she just needs time to grow.
