I grew this rose years ago, and last year found it as a "body bag" at Home Depot for ~$5. Oddly enough, this rose gets more positive reactions than most other roses in my garden. The unique petal shape and almost mum-like appearance seems to be an eye-catcher for most people. I really enjoy this rose as well. It has personality. I also grow St. Patrick, and I prefer Gold Glow to St. Patrick. St. Patrick is a very bland, "meh" rose to me despite it's great reputation. Gold Glow, though not perfect, is unique and really stands out. I'd suggest grabbing one if you see it.
Another rose my mom and I grew many years ago in Southern Mississippi, this was one of those "grocery store finds". Our plant had a tall, straight, non-spreading habit. The blooms were a clear yellow, but blew open fairly quickly. It did not last as long as others in a vase as well. The blooms have a very flat shape when open, and the petals are of a unique shape. For the right price, this is a good addition to a rose garden, especially if you like older varieties that have their own special quirks.
