Origin:

Bred by Dr. Keith W. Zary (United States, 1998).
Introduced in United States by Bear Creek Gardens, Inc. in 2000 as 'Sultry'.

Class:

Hybrid Tea.

Bloom:

Apricot or apricot blend. Mild, citrus, fruity, spice, sweet fragrance. 30 to 35 petals. Average diameter 6". Large bloom form. Blooms in flushes throughout the season.

Habit:

Height: 5' to 5½' (150 to 165cm). Width: 4½' (135cm).

Growing:

USDA zone 7b and warmer. Disease susceptibility: susceptible to blackspot . Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you'll probably find you'll have to prune a little more than that. Requires spring freeze protection (see glossary - Spring freeze protection) . Can be grown in the ground or in a container (container requires winter protection).

... having vigorous, upright, well-branched growth; strong, healthy, dark green foliage; long cutting stems; and large, well-formed yellow-orange flowers... Blooming habit: Continuous... Average open bloom size is 5 inches... Average stem length is about 18-22 inches... Number of petals under normal conditions: 35... Fragrance: Moderate; apple... Lastingness: On the plant: Long (about seven days). As a cut flower: Long (about eight days)... At maturity, height is 51/2 feet, width is 41/2 feet... Resistant to mildew and rust; susceptible to blackspot under normal growing conditions...
