Yellow Roses.
It will be of some service to the amateur, perhaps, if we run through the list of yellow teas in alphabetical order, and make such remarks on the more important of them as appear necessary.
Isabella Sprunt, a strong grower, a fine habit, a most valuable pot-rose, forces well, flowers well formed, colour sulphur-yellow.

Isabella Sprunt.- A new, yellow rose, of great merit. Its remarkably free blooming qualities make it a valuable acquisition for forcing and for cut flowers.

The New Roses for 1967. By W. D. Prior.
Verschaffelt also advertises Isabelle Sprunt. Surely the genius of incongruity must have presided over the conception of this name- the mellifluous and romantic Isabelle in conjunction with Sprunt! From a coloured lithograph of this introduction it would appear to be a tea or noisette of the pale yellow section; not so full as it might be, and unlikely to take rank with Marechal Niel.

919. Tea Rose, Isabella Sprunt. Garden Hybrid.
Illustration Horticole, 1866, pl. 486.

This is the new Tea Rose, raised by Mr. Buchannan of New York, and recently introduced to our collections. It has the vigorous growth of Saffrano, from which it was raised, but the flowers are of a clear sulphur yellow, instead of the saffron tint of that variety. It flowers freely during the winter, and its neatly pointed yellow buds are admirable for bouquets. (Ill. Hort., Aug.) 32: 343 (Nov. 1866)

New Plants.
Rose (Tea) Isabelle Sprunt (L'lllust. Hort., t. 486). — Rosaceæ. A new and beautiful tea rose, raised by Mr. Buchanan, of New York.  It is of a rather slender and free-growing habit, with glossy dark green leaves and purplish leaf-stalks.  The flowers are large, with very broad petals, which roll back in the way of Devoniensis; the colour primrose-white, deepening at the base to canary-yellow.

Rose (Thé) Isabelle Sprunt. Nostra tab. 483.
