'Isabella Sprunt' rose Reviews & Comments

The photos don't capture the color of this rose, which is a pale acid yellow fading almost to white and with never a touch of pink, unlike any other rose I know and very beautiful. The pale blooms benefit from the contrast with the rose's dark foliage and red new growth. To compare it with another soft yellow Tea, "Bermuda's Anna Olivier", the latter is a buttery, creamy shade, also beautiful but different. I think the size estimate given on HMF is too conservative, though my plants of 'Isabella Sprunt' are grown in such difficult conditions they haven't gotten much larger than that.

Sizes of 2-3 ' x 2' was certainly too conservative. We have increased the size to 2-6' tall x 5' wide as it is about 6 x 5 in my Australian garden. Thanks MelissaPej.

I love this rose! In my climate, it blooms in the winter time. I love the blooms and they make nice cut flowers. No disease or insect problems ever. Also shade tolerant.

How cold hardy is this rose?

This is a sport of Safrano which is termed a hardy tea. But it is still a tea and so zone 5 with total winter protection, would probably be the limit.

Thank you for providing this information. I have updated the rose page to show that the rose is hardy to zone 5.
