Two roses were named for André Du Pont (1756-1817). R. dupontii (which is still around) and 'Rosier Du Pont' (which is extinct).

Redouté's paintings are the only images we have of some of the older and now extinct varieties, among them a number of Gallicas. Roses like 'Rosier de Provins à feuilles bleuâtres' ("Gallica with Blue Leaves"), 'Rosier de France à pomme de Grenade' ("The Pomegranate Gallica"), and 'Rosier Du Pont'.
