Well, I've added the reference as I hate to discard any sort of information. But am puzzled over the internet mentions of Bill Irwin, Dennis Irwin, and Bob Campbell as creator of Matawhero Wines. Not that it matters. We are concerned with the rose here, but these backstories are of interest. Thanks Tomartyr.

The website you mentioned says "the memory of the Late Bill Irwin who as the creator or Matawhero Wines".
Bob Campbell's website says:
Dennis Irwin has a reputation of being the wild man of the Gisborne wine industry. He founded Matawhero Wines (tastings) in 1969.
and now in my rush to get out the door, I can't find the website that said Bob Campbell founded it.
Told you it didn't matter.

Really pretty rose. Kind of the the architecture of a short grandiflora.
Definitely not very hardy, however. Some die-back, even in Zone 8b. This was a problem with New Year, too.

Il suffit de faire afficher la photo, puis cliquer sur 'Edit/delete photo', puis cocher la case en bas à gauche, puis cliquez sur 'Continue' ... si tout marche normalement. Je me demande s'il n'y a pas un petit problème passager sur le site. Sinon il est vrai que le monsieur ne ressemble pas à Simply the Best ... :))

Problèmes actuels sur le site - impossible faire Edit/delete photo - pouvez vous annuler cette photo en attendant de pouvoir refaire moi-même les annulations ( impossible aussi d'avoir accés aux commentaires pour les photos depuis quelques jours).
Merci et excusez moi pour l'erreur de photo.

Oui, c'est ce que je vois - j'ai essayé d'enlever une des miennes pour voir, impossible! ...J'ai écrit aux Aministrateurs en anglais pour signaler le problème ... (En attendant je vois qu'il y en a d'autres qui ne trouvent pas la photo normale ... il y aura bientôt la correction.) :-)
