This rose always has a bloom on it. It seems to be resistant to fungus. (At least it is in my garden) It has perfectly formed flowers in both the hot of Summer and the chill of Spring.

And, yet, it won an AARS award and vanished as soon as it appeared, to make way for lesser large-flowered yellows in the JP 1990s catalogs.
I can only imagine JP was on life support from the ARS and the AARS trials before the financial crisis hit and bankrupted them. Lucille Ball is another classic example. People LOVED that rose, but good luck finding it back then.
People still buy Milestone online. Its well-liked. I've seen it in person in public gardens, and it's very nice for its era. Patrician was another one. Fragrant, red, and didn't eat the house. They all disappeared as soon as they came. The general public liked these roses. Strange decision processes. Makes me wonder if they valued opinions not from the public more.
