Fryer, UK 1974.

Deep pink, with a paler shade on the petal reverses... really a plant for the exhibitor rather than for garden display... named for an English football hero who captained a winning World Cup side... Parentage: 'Royal Highness' x 'Prima Ballerina'

Dr. A. S. Thomas, Victoria. Some Recent Introductions.
Bobbie Charlton Perfect as a cut flower, retaining its half-opened form for days. It may not open widely enough to please some Australian judges of specimen blooms. American judges will probably be very enthusiastic over this feature. Tall, upright plants.

Bobbie Charlton HT. (Fryer, 1974). 'Royal Highness' x 'Prima Ballerina'.  Of only medium size but a really outstanding dual purpose two-tone pink rose. Strong perfume. A good grower. I saw many blooms of this rose at several shows in England in 1973 (before it was on sale) and 1976.
Book  (1977)  Page(s) 140.

Also I have Bobby Charlton, HT. (Fryer, 1972), which had appealed to me very much in England in 1973 and 1976, but the plants came late and have not bloomed at the time of reporting. It is a fine big two-toned pink rose of excellent form with a very high pointed centre. Its only possible fault is a tendency to quilling by the outer petals as in 'Anne Letts'.
