I don’t understand the lack of love for this rose. It is absolutely gorgeous and would do well on the show bench! One of the better recent introductions from J and P, the plants are vigorous and well branched. It roots easily, so I recommend burying the budded graft under the soil line. Perhaps it’s the uninspired pictures from the J and P marketing department that have hamstringed BD’s success. The largish high centered blooms are reminiscent of Touch of Class with a more complex phototropic pink coloring. It has a medium strength rosy perfume and regularly produces single stems as well as small candelabras (#5-ish buds). I hope more people discover this gem before it soon disappears from the J and P sales catalog!

I think it is because the photos are reading as a typical pink blend. The colors are not showing well in photos. Also, JP was going through a terrible time then.

Variety denomination: The new plant has the varietal denomination `JACelspe`.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

This invention relates to a new and distinct variety of Hybrid Tea Rose. It has as its seed parent the variety known as `JACshaq` (U.S. Plant Pat. No. 11,482) and as the pollen parent `JACpribe` (U.S. Plant Pat. No. 18,553).

I missed something. Patent lists Zary as the inventor, which is interesting.
