Hello, I really hope you can help me find a certain rose that I have not been able to find anywhere in the united states. I cant even find it for sale over seas. Well it might help if I could read French! You have it listed as growing in your gardens. It's name is the Ludvik Vecera. I just have to find a way to get this rose. My boyfriends father Loves roses, as do I, and their last name is Vecera. He is czech just like the rose and it was "born" the same year as my boyfriend 1981. I am sure you can see why this rose is so special to us. I would love to give it to him at our wedding this upcoming summer and I would like to grow one at our new home also. So any kind of information you can give me on how to find the Vudvik Vecera will be greatly appreciated. Also I have never actually seen the rose can you describe it or send some photos of it? Ludvik Vecera is a very hardy climbing rose with bright red flowers. It doesn't grow very tall only about 8 or 9. It has a rose fragrance that is mild not strong. It is a cross with a Kordes rose called Dortmund which is also a bright red and very hardy.

Here is a man who grows this rose in his garden and perhaps he could tell you where you can get it. Maybe you could even get a cutting from him.

If all fails you may be able to get some budwood from Sangerhausen in Germany which has it in their collection. Here is a picture of Ludvik Vecera.

I grow Ludvik Vicera and imported mine from Loubert in France about a year ago. You can find their website at: http://www.rosesloubert.com/ I just checked and although I did not find it on the site, it is still on the more complete list of roses offered by Loubert that can be downloaded from their website. You did not mention where you are, and if you are in Europe you might contact Loubert. If you are in the U.S., you would need an import permit from the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture to import roses from Europe, and this would be a rather complicated and expensive proposition for just one rose. Plus that rose would need to remain in quarantine for two years and would be subject to inspection by the USDA. I will send a private e-mail to you with some other thoughts that I have.
