I live in Texas I came from Georgia and I have fround that I have no problem growing roses in the red clay to the black sand.. I use rose food, and I do put iron in my soil, that is an old rusty nail, rocks in the hole for the water to drain, the roots love that.. and they seem to take off fast in both areas....
