I am interested in the history of this rose, who propagated it, how old is it, and who stocks it for sale.

From the article by Rosemary Heather of Paraparaumu Beach, in the Australian Heritage Roses journal 32:1 (autumn 2010). Blushing Lucy was bred by Dr A H Williams and named for his wife; he named Emily Gray for his sister. Frank Cant released Blushing Lucy in 1938, and after the war was able to find a plant in his nursery for one of the Williams sons. It was spread in the UK by cuttings, and budwood was sent to NZ (where Williams was born). There it was shared around among Heritage Roses members, and is available from specialist rose nurseries. I think my photo was taken at Cust nursery en route from Christchurch to Dunedin, during a pre-conference tour.
