I am struggling to obtain a Miniture Rose called Joshua (aka MOGajosh) bred by Thomas Moglia. Its name and parentage are perfect and would help my wife and I offer a suitable remembrance for our beloved firstborn son Joshua who died aged 14 days old. If any one can help please forward any details of what you know. Thank you so much in anticipation of your kind help.

Hi Mark, I'm truly sorry to hear about your son. I've never heard of the rose and couldn't find it anywhere, however, this site states that it was introduced to the US by 'Gloria Dei Nursery' which you probably already know. I would try calling or writing to them to find out about the rose. They would be your best bet. The phone number was listed on here. It's (845) 687-9981. It doesn't show the address, but I found that out for you, if you want to write to them. The address is

36 East Rd
High Falls, New York 12440-5015

Thanks Tom

I tried the phone number but it was unobtainable - i hope I was getting the international dialling code right! I will try and write to them.

Many thanks for giving the matter some thought.

Mark,

I, too, am very sorry for your loss. You might try contacting Tiny Petals Nursery in Nevada. Dee Bennett bred a rose named 'Josh' which was registered just a couple of years ago. The do not list the rose as available on their website, but that may be because they have not propagated a sufficient number of plants to list for sale on the site. They may have some plants on the nursery benches and can provide a plant for you. Here is their contact information.

Tiny Petals Nursery Contact Info

Tiny Petals Nursery
2880 Ramsey Cut-Off
Silver Springs, Nevada 89429

PH: (775)577-4474
Fax: (755)577-4474

I wish you good luck in contacting them, and I hope this helps you find a good rose as a memorial to your son.

With sincere regards,

Lyn,

Mark, I just read your post. I'm sorry for your loss. I have discovered a beautiful rose called Joshua Bradley, bred by Armstrong Roses, which may be what you were looking for. Their description is as follows: Joshua Bradley The gold petals are highlighted with a rich, deep coppery reverse that is unique in the world of roses. The flowers have a light fragrance with up to 25 petals. Good disease resistance. A portion of the sales from this rose goes to Children's Hospital in Los Angeles, California.

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply and for your kind and thoughtful words.

I will seek this Rose out tomorrow and hopefully it will help us provide some lasting and meaningful remembrance for our beloved firstborn.

Friends will no doubt be heartened to hear that since Joshua's death we have become the proud parents of twins, Stephen and Sophie.

We thank God for His goodness and grace toward us through all the valleys of life.

Dear Mark,
My father bred the miniature rose you are looking for (it's named it after me). I'll send him a link to this site and have him get in touch with you. His friends, who owned Gloria Dei Nursery, retired a few years ago and so the rose is not sold on the market any longer. I'm sure he'd be glad to send you a plant - he just rooted a couple of them recently for my patio garden.
Best,
Joshua

Dear Mark, My son is coming home this weekend and may have with him a plant to make cuttings from. Once here, i will let you know what it looks like and if we can begin immediately. Then I need to know how I may actually contact you with the results. Think how you would like to give me some information regarding this. I am glad you got my response. God's blessings be with you. Mark, I'm sorry to hear about your loss. I can sympathize and know what it's like to lose a son. I'm also happy to hear that you are getting a plant of 'Josh', which I hope you enjoy. I wanted to share a little about the rose called 'Joshua Bradley', since I was instrumental in getting it introduced. Besides being a beautiful rose, it was also named after a young man who died from cancer as a teenager. I hope you can also find a spot for it in your garden.

Dear Mark,
I am the hybridizer of the miniature rose Joshua and I will very much try to start you some cuttings of this rose in memory of your son. I am sorry for your loss. The rose, as you may have guessed is named after my own son who found your request on the net and emailed it to me. I hope we can make this happen.
