I planted my first bush of Grandma's Blessing in 2022 and fell in love with its beauty. Sadly it has not survived my ex 5b/ now 6a winter despite given winter protection (I give it to all my roses except Buck's and Drifts). I planted another one in 2023. It survived our mild winter of 2024 just fine. I uncovered it and all my roses in early April and gave it the fertilizer. I have noticed yesterday that, once uncovered, it began to lose it canes and has not put out leaves, while roses next to it are doing just fine. Since I uncovered my babies we had nightly frosts for a while, but nothing major, nothing below 23'. I am beginning to wonder if its zoning is correct. It looked fabulously healthy when I uncovered, gently trimmed and fertilized it. I have no idea what went wrong :(

My Mrs B.R. Cant was planted in a spacious 20 liter pot in early 2024. The potting soil was a mix of peat free compost and composted farm manure. The rose began to grow soon after due to the mild winter of 2023/2024. In April the buds appeared on rather thick shoots and by the end of that same month the first bud unfolded into a very large, very full bloom with a beautiful pink color and a quite strong fragrance. I would describe the fragrance as strong fresh Tea with citrus notes. That first flower survived a thunderstorm and temp of 28 degrees without even a scratch. Mrs B.R Cant has very large flowers for a Tea and especially her many petals make it a Sumptuous, exquisite rose. Once she's strong and has established a good root ball she'll go into the ground next fall. I'm rather impressed by this Tea

Healthy, constantly putting out huge, stunning blooms, tolerant of heat and (ahem) intermittent watering...what's not to love about this rose? It's one of my favorites.

How big does this rose bush get? Does it throw out long canes, or stay compact?

Mine hasn't thrown out any long canes. It has stayed a very tidy 3x3ft shrub.

No long canes on my bush either. It seems to like being a small, compact bushy rose.
