This is one tough plant. I had a tiny plant with one basal planted in a terrible spot with too much shade. I dug it up and moved it twice, it looked like it would die for a few weeks but I continued to give it water soluble fertilizer. I checked it yesterday and it looked much healthier and even had a bloom and new growth.

How is your Barbara Worl/Grandmother’s Hat doing now? The exact same thing as you describe has happened to my Barara Worl. My mail ordered plant was a spindly stick. That was over 3 yrs ago. I found it during last year’s horrible drought looking very sad, but it did have some leaves. I replanted it in same area late last summer and am hoping it will survive. Thank you very much for your post. It has given me renewed hope.

One of the most gorgeous, full petaled, extravagant mini roses ever! BIG flowers, perfect dahlia like pattern similar to Gene Boerner' s impossible to find floribunda Amy Vanderbilt. Burling roses has it- it was impossible to find for years until now.! Mild scent.

Nice to have a red climber that does well in SF.

I'm in the Oakland hills where we get quite a bit of fog at night that settles here. I've got a spot that gets about 6 hrs sun in the AM, and shade in the PM. Based on your experience, do you think Florentina would do well? Thanks so much.

Hi!
Yes it should do just fine. No more blackspot than any other healthy roses in our climate.

Thank you for your reply! One more question: how’s repeat blooming for you? The description here says occasional repeat later in the summer but bloom frequency is rated ‘excellent’ by reviewers… Thanks again!

It’s budding now, then more blooms in July and September usually
