Kerryman Cluster-flowered/Floribunda. McGredy (UK) 1971. Royal National Rose Society Certificate of Merit 1971... The flowers of this variety are a pretty shade of salmon-pink in the center, paling to rosy salmon towards the margins. They are large for a cluster-flowered rose and are made up of 24 broad petals so that the combined weight of the blooms in their clusters tends to bow down the stems, giving the plant a pleasing rounded effect. ... The raiser named the rose to reflect his love of that part of Ireland...

'Kerryman'. Cluster-flowered. The Irish tell Kerryman jokes the way the rest of the world tell Irish and Polish jokes; but there is nothing ludicrous about this rose, a 1971 Sam McGredy introduction. It bears quite large 10 centimetre (4 inch) flowers in a blend of pinks with salmon, shapely and in nicely spaced clusters, and there is a soft fragrance. The bush is of medium height, but alas, the shiny, dark green foliage is apt to get black spot. Treat the rose kindly! It is a sister seedling of 'Molly McGredy'. 'Paddy McGredy' x ('Mme. Leon Cuny' x 'Columbine'). Repeat flowering. Fragrant.

'Kerryman' (McGredy, 1972). A very pretty rose in my garden. I have had many a champion stem from this bush. Very resistant to all diseases. Beautiful H.T. shaped creamy pink with deeper margins.

'Kerryman'. Very healthy. Creamy pink with deeper margins.

For a pink I like 'Kerryman'. I've seen it growing in the oddest situations - I was walking along the street in San Francisco and they had these great bowls sunk in the pavement actually and there was 'Kerryman growing up big and strong.

The Final Analysis 1980-81
'Kerryman' N.R.S. 8.0 (McGredy) 'Paddy McGredy' x ('Mme Leon Cuny' x 'Columbine') Cream and pink. Free growth and free blooming. For some unknown reason it took a long time to become widely grown. It makes a very attractive showing and all reporters say it is dependable, compact in growth and very worthwhile, especially for garden show.

'Kerryman'. Though this rose has been on the market longer than any on this list, the editor is very pleased to see there are reports from the five rosarians, because, as two comment, it has been rather over shadowed by its older and taller growing "sister" 'Tiki'. All agree that here we have a very good rose, in all aspects and one that can occasionally be used on the Show Bench. The bush does not grow very tall, yet has plenty of vigour, even if it does have a sprawly habit of growth. The foliage is quite large and is of a semi-glossy medium green. No one mentions any susceptibility to any particular disease. The flowers come in small clusters, two to four florets, shaped in classic H.T. form with a delightful colour blend of
salmon pink tonings which deepen as the petals age. It is at its best when seen about half open. Rain does spot the petals though. One reporter finds his rose gives its best in December and April. He also mentions it will not travel "dry" to a show and revive. Two mention another little "fault," the pedicules are too long to support a fully open flower, so letting it hang when at this stage. Only one reports a slight fragrance, and another that it forms heps easily.
