The center of transformed petaloids which is surrounded by broad guard petals, is deep sulphur yellow and holds its color well. Much of the stock offered for sale is far from vigorous, but flowers produced on well grown stock are very beautiful. A Brand Division $3.00.
Website/Catalog (1926) Page(s) 73. Rare Single Japanese Peonies The so-called Japanese Peonies are those which have one or two rows of petals and centers of stamens much thickened. These are almost devoid of pollen and oftentimes make a thick cushion of golden yellow. The effect is very beautiful and distinct and they continue to bloom throughout the Peony season. Although strong growers they propagate slowly and the stocks are usually limited. Aureolin 8.9 (Shaylor 1917), a fine Japanese single of medium size with pink guard petals and deep sulphur center. Midseason to late. $6.00 each.
