LA SUBLIME.
Species — P. albiflora.
Originated by Parmentier, 1850.
Donated by Perennial Gardens.
Description of bloom — Type of bloom semi-double. Form of bloom flat, loose. Not differentiated. Not entirely transformed. Color (total effect) 5 (168) dark crimson; guards streaked light; collar same color as guards; center clear. Carpels pale yellow, pink stigmas, smooth. Fragrance unpleasant XX. Blooming time mid-season. Large size.
Description of plant — Habit of plant erect, tall, medium compact. Growth strong and healthy. Stem long, strong, reddish green. Blooming habit free. Buds borne in clusters, healthy. Foliage medium furnished, dark green, fine; veins green.
Commercial value — For cut bloom poor; landscape value medium. Variety as a whole medium.

Nachstehende Kollektion ist das Resultat einer 40jährigen Samenzucht des Oberbürgermeisters J. Parmentier zu Enghien (in Frankreich). Diese Prachtsorten in dunklen Farben wurden von van Houtte in Gent erworben. - Faubert - Princesse Antonie d'Aremberg - Pottsii elegans - Prince Charles - Eclatant - Verschaffelt - Joseph Parmentier - Prince Prosper - Doyen d'Enghien - Fulgida - La Sublime -  François d'Ortegat - Pio Noni.
Ich offerire das Stück zu 20 Sgr. - 12 Sorten zu 7 Thlr.
Außerdem besitze ich 24 Sorten in leichtblühenden Arten mit wohlriechenden Blumen, in blassen, dunklen und weißen, alle stark gefüllten Varietäten, wovon ich das Dutzend in 12 Sorten mit Namen zu 1 Thlr. 20 Sgr. berechne.

Laut Nachrichten aus Braunschweig erregte die Päonienflor des Herrn Wilhelm Keffel dortselbst im Laufe dieses Sommers außerordentliche Bewunderung und fand allgemeinen Beifall. Die neuen Parmentier'schen Päonien sollen in der That unübertroffen dastehen. Die Päonien blühen zu einer Zeit, wo die übrige Gartenflor spärlich ist, schon deshalb sollten sie besser gepflegt werden.

Art and commercial gardener in Braunschweig (Northern Germany).
According to news from Braunschweig, Mr. Wilhelm Keffel's peony flower caused extraordinary admiration and general applause there this summer. The new Parmentier peonies are indeed said to be unsurpassed. The peonies bloom at a time when the other garden flowers are sparse, so they should be looked after better.
