'KORoutofko' rose Reviews & Comments

I bought this rose from Palatine last spring, and it has been amazing all season. It blooms often, in huge flushes, and the flowers never ball or crisp. The color is a brilliant red, and the blooms last a nice long time. The pollinators love the open centers, too. I believe it’s self-cleaning, as well. The leaves are clean, the shrub is nicely rounded. It’s pretty vigorous, though that might have something to do with the multiflora rootstock. I never expected it to be this full after only one season. The only down side to this rose is its lack of fragrance, but it’s beautiful enough to make up for that. I garden in alkaline clay in humid NJ/7b.

"0004] The new variety of floribunda rose plant of the present invention was created by controlled breeding in May 2007 in Sparrishoop, Germany by artificial pollination wherein two parents were crossed which previously had been studied in the hope that they would contribute the desired characteristics. The female parent (i.e., the seed parent) of the new variety was `KORmarkron` (U.S. Pat. No. 23,159). The male parent (i.e., the pollen parent) of the new variety was an unnamed breeder seedling (non-patented)."
"[0014] The new variety of the present invention can readily be distinguished from its ancestors. More specifically, the `KORmarkron` variety (i.e., the seed parent) displays more petals, a less bushy growth habit, and brighter red colored flowers compared to the new variety. In addition, the unnamed breeder seedling male parent (i.e., the pollen parent) displays less petals and a less bushy growth habit compared to the new variety."
