Roses: Easy Plants for More Beautiful Gardens (Taylor's 50 Best Series) is a handy book for the beginner and worth looking at by the more experienced rosarian as well. The 50 chosen roses are proven performers. Two pages are devoted to each rose and include a color photograph, vital statistics, advice for use and care, and a list of similar varieties. There's also a lot of practical general rose information and advice. (The price isn't bad either -- ten-dollars in the US.)
