Bloom:
Yellow, golden-yellow stamens. Mild, fruity fragrance. 20 to 25 petals. Average diameter 1.75". Very large, double (17-25 petals), borne mostly solitary, cluster-flowered, in small clusters, cupped, rounded bloom form. Blooms in flushes throughout the season. Pointed buds.
Habit:
Medium, compact, rounded, spreading, well-branched. Medium, semi-glossy, medium green, dense, leathery foliage.
Height: 14" to 18" (35 to 45cm).
Growing:
USDA zone 5b through 10b. Can be used for beds and borders, container rose, cut flower or garden. Hardy. vigorous. Disease susceptibility: disease resistant. Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you'll probably find you'll have to prune a little more than that. Can be grown in the ground or in a container (container requires winter protection). Can be pruned to maintain a shorter habit.

According to the New Zealand Plant Variety Rights (PVR) web page, application for a PVR Grant for this rose was made October 29, 1990 and granted August 12, 1992 (PVR Grant No. 693). The breeder's Reference for this rose is Morsegold. The New Zealand Trade Name is 'Sequoia Gold'. This PVR Grant expires August 12, 2015.
Sequoia Gold was removed from the Auckland Regional Botanic Gardens (ARBG) Display Trial because its trial period expired.
