'Class Act' is mentioned as appropriate for colder climates--zone 5a, in the American Rose magazine, Nov. 2001, pg. 15. Rather surprising for a seedling of 'Sunflare', which has never survived my winters. A Mr. and Mrs. Wagner from the Yankee District give it a rave review.

"CLASS ACT (FIRST CLASS) (WHITE MAGIC), F (Warriner '88) [Sunftare
x (Merci x Faberge)]. W, 15-20 petals, slight fruity fragrance. AARS '89,
Portland GM '89."

Per the Canadian Rose Annual (1995).

I've always hated this rose :]

Haha, this was one of the very first roses I considered when I first became interested in roses. I never did get it but I've held a secret longing for it ever since. Is it that bad? I think the AARS might have swayed me at the time.

There were several dozen at a city garden I used to volunteer for. Its the rose when I think of I want to think about the most nondescript, naked rose possible (it defoliates from BS here). It just doesn't have any character, like Margaret Merril does.

Thank you Michael. Reference and pollen parentage added.

Thanks Michael too for your appraisal. 'Class Act' still seems to me to have an understated elegance, even if it might not not be the healthiest as you say. Maybe if I grew it I might change my mind lol.

I grow Princess of Wales here. Its super cute. Very "English border" feel to it, with quite glossy foliage and compact habit. I had Moondance for awhile, but it suffers from being harsh. Its a super easy rose though. Californians seem to like Fabulous! a lot, but it defoliates here. For off-white, Weeks recently introduced Easy Spirit, but I think Pretty Lady is all-around better.

June 2007 I saw CLASS ACT at Regan's today! It had tall, strong growth and the rose was all white with many large open blooms that nicely display their stamens! Very nice cottage look. kHAAS
