Bloom:

Cherry-red to crimson, white streaks.. Mild, raspberry fragrance. Average diameter 2.25". Small to medium, very double, borne mostly solitary, cluster-flowered, in small clusters, in large clusters, cupped-to-flat, globular, reflexed bloom form. Blooms in flushes throughout the season.

Habit:

Light green foliage.

Height: 30" to 6' (75 to 185cm). Width: 3' to 4' (90 to 120cm).

Growing:

USDA zone 7b through 10b. Can be used for beds and borders, cut flower, garden or hedge. Vigorous. drought resistant. heat tolerant. Can be pruned to maintain a shorter habit. Prune lightly or not at all.

Notes:

Ashdown Roses says the introducer is Sprunt in 1837.
Pépinières Loubert says the breeder is Coquerel.
It is possible that several different roses were called 'L'Eblouissante'. 'La Gauffré' = l'Eblouissant' is possibly a different rose than 'Cramoisi supérieur'. The Cels catalogue of 1836/37 list 'l'Eblouissant' for 1 franc, while 'Cramoisi supérieur' is priced at 5 francs, indicating that the latter was a very recent introduction (1835 or 36). an 1843 catalogue lists two distinct roses for 'Agrippina' and 'Cramoisi superieure'.
