To Charles Quest-Ritson,
Charles - in the comment attached to your photo you say:
"I introduced this species hybrid in 1987."
In HelpMeFind I am used to a rose being introduced by a nursery.
Do you have a nursery that we should be listing?

Our garden was open to the public and we used to sell plants to help pay the gardeners' wages. We introduced about a dozen plants, mostly things that were not then available from nurseries (e.g. Geranium palustre, Symphytum caucasicum), but also a few roses. The form of R. gallica that we called 'Becketts Single' was another of our introductions; so was 'Octet'. I have a soft spot for the arkansana x moyesii hybrid because it has such a long season of flower and suckers around a bit so that we can usually dig up piece for anyone who admires it. I have often wondered about its ploidy - arkansana is usually diploid and moyesii hexaploid. It turned up in a batch of arkansana seedlings. Does this help? CQ-R.

Yes. It certainly does. Are you the BREEDER? I am not sure that I can actually list you as the introducing nursery, but it is now documented in the comments if anyone ever needs to know where it came from in the U.K.

Patricia, why all the fuss? Perhaps you might like to read the International Convention on the Nomenclature of Cultivated Plants before deciding that you cannot accept an individual's name as a breeder. It's been validly published – what else do you want? A copy of our catalogue? A reference in CRL? They exist, but perhaps you could take my word for it instead. CQ-R.

You might like to actually read my question again.

"…to actually read"? Well at least I don't split my infinitives! Yes, I am the breeder – if that is the question you wish me to answer. Did you get a long e-mail I sent to your private e-mail address at reachnet? I have a number of concerns about the viability of HMF and I can't find anyone who is in a position to reassure me. What I want to know is just how it is constituted, financed and managed. In short, am I wasting my time uploading pictures and contributing to discussions?
