'Chartreuse' rose References
Book (2011) p32. Dawn Eagle. Looking Back. Solitaire with its tall branches gives me many blooms to pick and enjoy.
p38. Hayden Foulds. Pick of the Bunch. Solitaire (Macyefre) - Certificate of Merit 1988. A large growing hybrid tea that was probably too vigorous for many who grew it and this extra growth came at the expense of blooms later in the season. Otherwise a good all round rose with a colour reminiscent of 'Peace'. It became a favourite of many exhibitors.
Book (2009) Page(s) 78. David Ruston. Australia / New Zealand Differences. Solitaire (McGredy) 1987. Huge bushes and plenty of flowers.
Book (2008) Page(s) 98. Raewyn Davies. When It Comes To Showtime. Solitaire McGredy NZ 1987. The blooms are in many ways similar to 'Peace', except the colours are more intense. The blooms are borne on strong long stems which make it an excellent exhibition rose.

p21. Lois Tabb, Canterbury. My Five Healthiest Roses. Solitaire Macyefre. What a delight - beautiful healthy foliage which sets off the yellow flushed peach bloom to perfection. Lovely at all stages from bud to exhibition to fully open. While 'Solitaire' appears often on the show benches it is certainly a highlight as a garden rose and seems to be disease resistant. Very vigorous and loves its position getting early morning sun which leaves about 2.30 in the afternoon.
p23 Michael Brown, Canterbury. My Five Healthiest Roses. Solitaire (McGredy, New Zealand 1987). With 'Freude' as a parent, this rose has great disease resistance. Strong, leathery, robust foliage on a plant that just grows too tall. Stays disease resistant right through the season until pruning time. Should give some great offspring in the future.
