At its best in the spring when the color is quite unique...coral red stripes on an apricot orange base. It seems to lose its stripes in hot weather and become a solid dark smoky orange, not very attractive to me. The plant is healthy, bushy, blooms heavily and repeats often, having ideal floribunda qualities. Alas, that summer color doesn’t look good by itself and clashes with pretty much every other rose in the garden.

Frida has been a little fussy with blackspot at times, but oddly...the chili thrips seem to avoid her.

Even the Chili thrips must not like that odd dull orange summer color, either!

Ben T, I agree with your assessment of the color, same thing in Albuquerque NM... BTW, Weeks Roses Hybridizer Christian Bedard said in his August 2023 ARS webinar that this rose seemed to perform best on the west coast...

Anyone else's Frida Kahlo lose its stripes. I had stripe on my own root plant when I planted it 2 years ago but starting last fall I have only gotten solid orange-red blooms with absolutely no stripes.

Probably my favorite rose from Weeks in recent history. Honorable mentions to Forever Amber, Burst of Joy, and Yellow Freedom.

Unlike many striped floribundas, it isnt junk, and it surpasses many striped floribundas as plants.

To compare it categorically to their previous striped floribunda that sold and did well, Scentimental, is has a much better-behaved plant. The foliage is shinier, and it blooms more. However, it is less fragrant and not romantic-looking.
