MARCH ACTIVITY: Our March meeting will be held Saturday, March 1, 2014 from 9:30am to 1:00pm at the Bogan Park Community Center, 2723 North Bogan Road, Buford, GA. Consulting Rosarians will be on hand to answer your questions about the selection, planting, pruning and overall care of roses. This is a free event with raffles, workshops, demonstrations and more. Drop in and talk roses with us and observe as we prune and fertilize the two EarthKind rose beds we have planted and maintain at Bogan Park.
APRIL ACTIVITY: Our April meeting will be held at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center (GJAC), 75 Langley Drive, Lawrenceville, GA at 7:00pm. We will have our annual Plant Exchange, a fun and rewarding event. Join us in the parking lot of GJAC, weather permitting, and take home some beautiful and sometimes unusual plants. We'll talk roses too if you want!
Our second April activity will be held April 12th from 9:00am to 3:00pm at The Family Tree Garden Center, 1983 Main Street East, Snellville, GA. This will be our second year staffing their Rose Day event. The Family Tree Garden Center has purchased hundreds of roses; over 80 different varieties of Hybrid Teas, Grandifloras, Floribundas and Climbers. You are bound to find the rose(s) of your dreams; especially with the assistance of Consulting and Master Rosarians from the Greater Gwinnett Rose Society on hand. We can help you with your questions of what type of rose will fit your spot in the yard, what to use to fertilize and spray, and how to amend your soil to make happy roses for years to come.
MAY ACTIVITY: Our very own Vice-President of Membership, Rani von Württemberg will present a talk on The Care of Roses. Rani is our “extreme composter” and grows delightful roses. She will share her experience on a variety of topics on growing roses.
JUNE ACTIVITY: To be announced.
JULY ACTIVITY: Due to vacations and the summer heat, GGRS will go dormant for the month of July. Please check back to see what we will be doing in August!
