[From
Catalogue des Rosiers cultivés au Jardin du Luxembourg - 1837, p. 14-17:] The authors describe the historical context of this catalogue, which was prepared in 1837 in two examples, on occasion of the marriage of Hélène de Mecklemburg-Schwerin (January 24, 1814 - ) to Ferdinand-Philippe-Louis-Charles-Henri-Joseph, Duc d'Orléans (September 3, 1810 Palermo - ) on May 30, 1837 in the castle of Fontainebleau. It was commissioned by the Chamber of Peers and received on July 5, 1837. The two examples were presented to the bride Hélèner d'Orléans and her stepmother, the Dowager Grand-Duchess of Mecklemburg-Schwerin.
