I've got three MariaCallas growing here. The colour is so vividly striking that it outstands most other roses that grow nearby. It has a wonderful but not strong fragrance here in the begining of the season. I'll check again later. Two of my bushes are already 34 years old. They survived everything. Would one call that a fussy rose? They survived the -20ºC winter unscathed with no protection. They get no supplemental water during our dry summers. No even a adequate pruning...No spraying either. The young plant which I bought three years ago did suffer from my recent very late spring freeze. So yes it may require care just initially. All in all I'm more than happy to have multiples of it amongst my almost 400 bush collection.

By other growers of this, I would gather that this one does best in Dry Central/Southern West Coast US conditions. It certainly was not happy whatsoever here in humid and rainy Hawai'i. I purchased 6 to place along my curbside beds. They were ALL miserable, RIDDLED with BS, all of the 5 flowers I got were totally scentless, and to make it an even more pathetic situation, the petals bleached out in the rain.
Aside from all of this, the "1970's Retro Pepto Bismol Pink" color I call it is quite Garish, and really I didn't find a complementary colored rose to match it with, so I in the end, I was happy that these never made it into the ground, and I could just dump them out of the pots.
This one would be a good soloist rose for those lucky enough to have perfect conditions for it. I've never had a fussier rose. It's much worse than Purple Tiger. My personal rating: 3.1

Thank you for your excellent review. Saw a bunch of these bare-roots at Menards for $6, but I didn't buy it. I'm into fragrance and my climate is humid & rainy in summer.

I am sooo glad you saw this review first then. Yes, I have so many others better suited and definitely luscious fragrance! If you ever find a Tiffany, that one is Cast Iron in rain and humidity! I do not spray EVER..Never any BS, Perfect formed flowers, classic rose fragrance, and super long stems that make this the best vase flower I’ve got! Runner up is Belinda’s Dream for both fragrance and no BS.

Thank you for your recommendation of Tiffany. I bought Pink Peace, Fragrant Plum and Della Reese today at Menards for $6 each bare-root. I already have a Pink Peace and it got weak through my zone 5a winter.

I have 2 Pink Peace, and I really don't care for them. They definitely have held their own, but they do defoliate in rainy summers. They drop their leaves as soon as BS begins, so often I have naked plants, and they look pretty ugly about 1/3 of the time. Thank goodness I don't have them in high profile places. However, they smell nice. Once these die away, I won't be getting this one again. Della Reese is a shy bloomer and doesn't like direct sun on the petals, but loves the full sun on it's foliage, so the best thing I coud recommend is to plant her under a tree where it will get full sun from sunrise until noon, and then shade the rest of the afternoon. I used to get so many crispy petals, that I just let it fade away, and I planted Granada in its place, and that one has been another stunner. Check photos of Granada. It holds the flowers up to 5 days and they look nice, plus it has 100% tolerance to rain and humidity with a great peach fragrance!

Granada is stunning !! Its pics are far better than Sutter's Gold which blew fast and died in my zone 5a. Agree about Pink Peace BS and lose leaves during rain, my own-root was much healthier than grafted-on-Dr.Huey. Many thanks for info. about Della Reese since I only have morning sun space left. Burnt petals were a problem with my Stephen Big Purple in full-sun, so I learn to put purple roses in partial shade. I admire THE DEEP orange color of your Lady of Shalott (what type of soil do you have and how do you fertilize it?) ... My Lady of Shalott is pale orange in alkaline clay. Biggest problem with dense & heavy clay is fade colors .. I never get deep pink nor deep orange.

I agree! I will write more tomorrow night when I get a chance. I just wrote a long message and it erased it all. ????
I literally give Granada zero attention, and randomly spits out blooms regularly from March-November. No complaints whatsoever. Tremendously thick petals too!

HelpMeFind works best when you comment on the one rose, in that rose’s file.

MAAB is a stunner of a rose. Perfect form. Electric pink coloring that doesn't fade or get washed out. It's gorgeous. Echoing statements of others on here, it's not the most vigorous plant and it doesn't bloom a ton. Although it's listed as a strong smell on here, like others comments, I only detect a mild fragrance even with conditions are just right. It's also great in a vase right by itself.

I've toyed with the idea of either replacing with Pink Peace or adding PP to my garden. PP seems to be the antithesis of MAAB, lacking the perfect coloring and form but being a lot more floriferous and having a strong smell.

Well, "perfect colouring" is subjective. A lot of people really like the colour of PP. It's not shy and retiring but it's a lot of fun. Fantastic scent too.

I think there are newer roses in this color range that have better traits. Rose Rhapsody is by far my favorite large-flowered rose in this color range.

I've had Miss All-American Beauty in my front yard for two years now. It is absolutely beautiful!!! In hot sunny Arizona!!! This rose makes the neighbors stop and ask about it. It has huge lovely pink flowers. I have not had any problems whatsoever. One of my favorites.
