'Orfeo' rose Reviews & Comments

I have a few questions on this rose, I am considering it, or maybe Crimson Glory. How good is the repeat on Orfeo? How is it's fragrance (is it noticeable), is it an old rose/damask smell, or is it more of a fruity/tea smell. Does Orfeo resist blackspot? -Basil (surburban Washington DC)

Hi Dennis, if you mean Orfeo I don't see any reason you couldn't put it in a large tub or container with a trellis. It is a beautiful rose. I think it gets large but if you had a 20 or 30 gallon tub I don't see why you couldn't. Good Luck with it .. Jody

Dear Derek, I don't think it will be happy for very long in a planter. It wants to get pretty big. Mine is only a few years old from an own-root cutting, and already it is about 6-7 feet tall by 8-10 feet wide (I've been training it as horizontally as possible along a tall fence.) Of course, I am in a fairly mild climate, USDA Zone 8, but I believe it is quite hardy. It is about to be covered in blooms. This is a great rose -- quite healthy. I hope to buy a digital camera soon so I can start posting pictures of my roses. -Victoria in Eugene, OR
