This rose grows even in semi-shade and is very healthy and cold-resistant. It is unpleasantly prickly, but if you go to the trouble of bending over to it, you found the fragrance is very nice and fruity. Nice as a part of a bouquet!
I like this rose!
Greetings

Dear HMFers,

the rose 'Sternenflor' is really prostrate growing "ground cover"-style not growing higher than 30 to 40cm. The shrub in the pictures is not even 20cm high.

According to the Schultheis "Rosenbuch" 'Sternenflor' (meaning "blooming of stars") was introduced in 1989 by Rosenhof Schultheis and awarded a silver medal at the Bundesgartenschau at Frankfurt (Main) in the same year. It is repeat flowering and said to have a strong scent (due to the low grwowth I did not venture to verify that).

A blush pinkish flowering seedling of this rose, called 'Rosa Sternenflor' (meaninig Pink Sterenflor), was introduved in 1995 by the same nursery and seems to grow a little higher exuding a slighter fragrance.

Rosy greetings

Josef Distl
