A very slow grower; requires great patience.

This Climbing Hybrid Tea has medium large 9-10cm), buff pink flowers, individually and abundantly borne on short drooping stems early in the season and occasionally thereafter. The edges of the flowers fade to pale yellow, while the centre remains almost raspberry pink. They have a strong tea scent. The true old cultivar is seldom seen in cultivation today, its place being taken by an inferior, sugar pink impostor.

This rose is a sport of the bush form, ‘Paul Lédé’, which was one of Pernet-Ducher’s large-flowered/Hybrid Teas derived from the ‘Persian Yellow’ (Rosa foetida). This was a breakthrough in the early twentieth century, and the roses were known for a while as Pernetianas. They brought in the intense yellow, and unfortunately black spot. This climbing form has flowers which have been variously described as soft peach-pink, yellow and apricot, carmine-pink and dawn yellow. They are fragrant and bloom freely and continuously. She’s classed as a Hybrid Tea as a bush and a Noisette as a climber. And we’ve got her in the climbing Teas. She’s apricoty buff and she’s absolutely lovely.
