'Rob Roy'     Medium   Crimson   Rernontant   P2 H3     *****
'Rob Roy's' rich and glorious crimson is the most splendid red to be found in roses, according to my eyes. The flowers are of Hybrid Tea shape, and although the petals are not too numerous, there are enough of them to make up a pretty flower, and to provide a first class buttonhole. It is an excellent garden rose of upright habit; and anyone who likes to grow roses under glass should make trial of this. There is little scent, unfortunately.   It  was raised by Alec  Cocker from  'Evelyn Fison'  x 'Wendy  Cussons',  and introduced in 1971. Mr Cocker was highly delighted to receive a letter from France in connection with securing Plant Breeders' Rights there, asking for a letter of authority from Mr Roy for the use of his name!

Cocker and Harkness advertisement. Raisers' Eye View. You know, we often look at each other and wonder when we will learn! We had the finest crimson-scarlet HT-type floribunda there is, and we did not have the sense to put it properly before our customers. It is 'Rob Roy', with 'Ena Harkness' colour plus a depth and brilliance which outshines Ena and 'Red Dandy'. Let's hope it gets around, because people will surely enjoy it.
