Bred by Schaum & Van Tol (Netherlands, 1905).

Hybrid Rugosa, Shrub.  
Bloom:
Purple.  Strong, clove fragrance.  up to 25 petals.  Average diameter 4".  Large, double (17-25 petals) bloom form.  Occasional repeat later in the season.  
Habit:
Armed with thorns / prickles.  

Height: 5' to 7' (150 to 215cm).  Width: 4' to 7' (120 to 215cm).
Growing:
USDA zone 3b and warmer.  Hardy.  drought resistant.  produces decorative hips.  Disease susceptibility: very disease resistant, very blackspot resistant..  Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood..
