The rose was named in honor of the French doctor, physician, art writer and philanthropist, François Debat (Angoulême (Charente), 1882 - Paris,1956), who was Doctor in Pharmacy (Paris, 1908) and Medicine (Paris, 1914). Founder and CEO of the "Laboratories of Doctor Debat" and creator of the "Doctor François Debat Prize". Founder of the review "Art and Medicine", creator of the association "Les Amis de la Villa Médicis" and free member of the Academy of Fine Arts (elected in 1846).

For any of the breeders here, do you see influence from 'Radiance' in this rose?

It is said to be a really strong grower once pruned, which can be consistent with the habit and behavior of 'Radiance', but I do not know nothing apart from than that and I do not grow it neither, unfortunately! Regards ;)

Dr. Debat grows well on its own roots and has subtle, classic Tea coloring and Tea scent. My plant is less than 3 feet tall and is pruned rather hard. It seems to require such pruning to stimulate vigorous new growth.
