Origin:
Bred by Joseph Pernet-Ducher (France, before 1918).
Introduced in France by Grandes Roseraies du Val de la Loire in 1921 as 'Souvenir de Georges Pernet'.
Introduced in Australia by Hazlewood Bros. Pty. Ltd. in 1923 as 'Souvenir de Georges Pernet'.
Class:
Pernetiana.  
Bloom:
Red, yellow shading, carmine-red edges.  Strong fragrance.  31 petals.  Very large, full (26-40 petals), globular bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Habit:
Short, armed with thorns / prickles, bushy, upright.  Bronze-green foliage.  

Height: 2' to 3' (60 to 90cm).  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b and warmer.  Hardy.  shade tolerant.  Disease susceptibility: susceptible to blackspot .
