Origin:
Bred by Francis Meilland (1912-1958) (France, 1946).
Introduced in United Kingdom by Wheatcroft Brothers Ltd. in 1948 as 'Sultane'.
Introduced in Australia by Hazlewood Bros. Pty. Ltd. in 1952 as 'Sultane'.
Class:
Hybrid Tea, Pernetiana.  
Bloom:
Vermilion, golden-yellow reverse, yellow undertones.   (Rouge grenadine sur fond safran).  Mild fragrance.  40 petals.  Average diameter 5".  Very large, full (26-40 petals), borne mostly solitary bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Habit:
Glossy, bronze-green, leathery foliage.  

Height: 2' to 32" (60 to 80cm).  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).
