At the back are plants of Flying Colours, which at their best, in early spring, are very attractive. I am getting good seedlings from it, and, together with Harbinger and Jessie Clark, I have a trio of parents of great promise.

Outstanding also among the early flowering varieties are Mr. Alister Clark's spring bloomers, of which Jessie Clark and Flying Colours are, I think, the greatest favourites, and deservedly so... a splendid grower, with absolutely disease-proof foliage; and the same may be said of Flying Colours, which, with its long canes and hundreds of flowers, is a sight to behold. Coming before the winter is really over, its large, deep cerise flowers make the glory of the garden, and continue flowering for quite three months of the year.

Mr. Alister Clark's ability to produce roses at any season of the year from his beautiful garden at Glenara, Bulla, Victoria, is a continual surprise. At the Canterbury show, held last week, be presented a display of roses, covering a 6ft. table, and including some choice blooms of varieties raised at Glenara. The most beautiful bunch was Amy Johnston [...] Other choice bunches were Lorraine Lee, Jessie Clark, Flying Colours, and Traverser. Flying Colours is a large, single, cerise-pink variety, with fine, shining green foliage.
