Even in 1913 nurserymen became excited by their roses. Full text from Brundrett's catalogue for 1913.

For those Australians who plan to watch the ABC television programme 'Family Fortunes' on the Manifold family (8pm on Tuesday, August 5) it may be of interest to read up on the two roses the Manifold gardener, William Jack Adamson, bred and named after his employer's family members :
Mrs. J. C. Manifold, 1913 was a crimson HP and 'Miss Marion Manifold' 1919, is a crimson climber. This last rose was extremely successful all over the world and is still available.

Earlier in 1911, Mr. Adamson also discovered two climbing sports
Lord Tarquin Climbing and Lord Tarquin White Climbing. Very little is known about these two roses.

It promises to be a most interesting programme and I shall keep my eyes peeled
for glimpses of old roses in the garden.
