Proof of the Pudding
Enchantment ...Av. ht. 32".  National rating 6.4. This seems to be pretty much of a cool climate rose, although some very favourable reports were received from Georgia, Oklahoma and Texas.  There was no great enthusiasm for it in the Pacific Northwest and only one report was received from California but this was favourable.  Where it grows well the flowers are large and beautiful and likened to peonies.  The color was considered good and the fragrance was appreciated.  Its winter hardiness was complimented.  The foliage in some cases was considered coarse.  The chief merits of this variety seem to be its exceedingly large flowers and attractive color.  Its vigor and disease resistance are questionable.  Many of the buds are unattractive but the blooms are of good form and substance.  For most garders it is a sparse and intermittent bloomer.

So far we have not been particularly enthused about Enchantment, coming from the E. G. Hill Company. It is probably better under glass than out-of-doors.
